Kay Laurence

Kay Laurence started Learning About Dogs as a registered business in 2000. Although learning about dogs was her main aim for the previous 25 years, registering the company began the focus of a strong organisation now recognised around the world.

Learning About Dogs is a training and education business in the Cotswolds at the Wagmore Barn Centre of most excellent training, thinking and canine enjoyment. She holds workshops at her own training facility in the UK, across the US and around the world teaching a wide range of training skills and encouraging trainers to enjoy the expansive views outside the box.

Kay has lived intimately with many dogs over many years observing their daily interactions, their puppy rearing and sharing in their activities. They skilfully teach the art of living as a harmonious group and developing connection. This understanding and skill is shared through the book Every Dog Every Day and the workshops where a consistent high quality of results with a range of different dogs and people is achieved.

With her passion for understanding dogs and her experience of teaching, Kay leads the way in developing practical techniques that will leave you with and a with great sense of personal achievement and connection to your dog.

Kay has been a presenter at many Conferences over the last 15 years, including the Karen Pryor Clicker Expo and continues to enjoy exploring new cities in the US as part of the Expo Faculty. A regular presenter at the ORCA "Wicked Minds" Conference at the University of North Texas. Presenter at the IMDT Conference 2016, Australia APDT Conference, Sydney 2011.

Kay is considered one of the world’s top trainers. With 10 titles published and translated into German, French and Spanish, her exciting course of books and videos brings you her unique combination of talents.

The unique perspective is the three fold mixture of education, experience and pioneering training methods run in our wonderful centre, the Wagmore Barn. This gives the knowledge to apply the training theories to our dogs and transfer the best of that experience to teaching others.

The business includes book and video publishing, classes, courses and seminars, virtual classes, practical hands-on workshops and the certification of trainers and teachers.

Lesley Buxton CAP2

Lesley has always shared her home with a variety of dogs, the current residents are Harry (rescue Terrier X) and Biggles (Irish Terrier) and latest addition Zita. Up until 2007 she worked in the finance department for an animal charity then decided to leave behind the desk job and pursue the dream to become a dog trainer.

  • Graduated from the Canine Training and Behaviour Course at Warwickshire College in 2008.
  • Achieved CAP 1/ CAP 2 and currently training towards CAP 3.
  • Completed the Pet Dog Training Instructors Course introductory level in 2007.
  • Attended Agility Training for Trainers 1 & 2 with the Derbyshire Agility Centre.  Competed and won a few rosettes at UK Agility shows (beginner level) with Harry.  

Lesley regularly attends workshops, discovering how to do freestyle and heelwork to music and is working towards the Learning About Dogs Teachers Diploma and Puppy Education Diploma.

Lesley teaches Puppy, Puppy Graduate and Foundation Clicker Trainers Workshops.
